A MINIMALIST’S GUIDE to LIVING a MINDFUL LIFE

Keeping with the color theme of late … remember when I wrote about timeless-affable beige and explained how I love it paired with earthy colors and raw textures? Well, let me tell you that while I do love the combination—and I mostly think they go perfectly well together because I love nature and all it has to offer—beige with touches of black might just be my favorite combination for now (right this very second). I know I've already told you about how lovely beige is — but really, isn't it so elegant-yet-not-stuffy coupled with with a hint of black? I think so.

Formentera is a stunning and acclaimed island in the Mediterranean Balearic sea. Neighbor to Party Central, Ibiza, Formentera is in contrast a peaceful escape surrounded by villages, dirt roads and secluded retreats where many lucky families make their home. One of those villages that can be found on the island is this beautiful abode, planned and designed by GCA Architects – also from Spain. The company was tasked to create a home that blended with the environment and spoke of the feel of the site. Clearly that was successfully achieved.

The project is divided into three separate villages that used natural and texture-filled materials that bring warmth and beauty to the interiors: micro cement, timber and wood, to mention a few.

The simplicity of the village exterior effortlessly blends into the outdoors, it almost seems like an extension of the rocky, Mediterranean outdoors. This residence is truly a portrait of slow-living, natural elegance and the spirit of Mediterranean living - GCA Architects went above and beyond the project's scope, converting this into a safe retreat for the families who reside in them.

Oh, the charm of Amsterdam! I could easily have been born there.

Yes, Amsterdam happens to be one of my favorite cities in the world. It's not only the warmth of the people and the cultural contrast – but also the architecture and the beautifully preserved canal homes.

Thomas Geerling is the Founder and Art Director of Studio Framework. He renovated this (in his own words) "rundown home" in Grachtenviertel as a personal project and completed it in less than a year. He and his wife had wanted to move to that part of Amsterdam for the longest time and with the help of his studio they made it a reality.

The interiors were meant to remain "imperfect". Thomas wanted to keep some of the unfinished feel and have the home serve as a stage for their art, including the two sofas he designed for their dinning-room area. Visibly, they were able to achieve every one of their goals.

This renovated home is a gem in the busy-yet-charming streets of Amsterdam.

Jotun has launched their new range of colors for 2019 – and it is absolutely what I expected from Jotun (and then some). Jotun is a reference in new color trends and design inspiration. Their color cards often determine what we will see in people’s home throughout the year – and justifiably, they’ve grown bigger and stronger over the years.

Their new collection is divided into 3 categories: calm, refined and raw – and every color does justice to each category. This year we’ll be seeing trends move from stronger shades to beautiful, muted – almost pastel – tones that perfectly compliment each room.

Personally, I’ve fallen for the 12078 Comfort Grey and 2078 Comfort Grey colors.

    Which is *your* favorite?
